"A favorite of modernist composers" (Los Angeles Times), legendary soprano Lucy Shelton will gather with a number of her prime collaborators and former students in a concert featuring beloved songs and chamber works. Shelton will reprise repertoire from her 1980 Naumburg Debut Recital, including a selection from "Two Poems of Agueda Pizzaro" by Joseph Schwantner, who will attend the performance. Additionally, Shelton will present the WORLD PREMIERE of a new work by composer Robert Zuidam. Shelton will also perform songs written for her throughout her career by Elliott Carter and Oliver Knussen, and premiere Ives song arrangements by and with the brass quartet, The Westerlies. This concert, taking place 40 years after her NYC debut as the first-ever renter of the Abraham Goodman House (now Merkin Hall), will be a vibrant celebration of Lucy Shelton's lasting legacy in the world of contemporary vocal music.
